Monterey State Historical Parks Association Los Exploradores de Monterey Summer Day Camp is a two-week camp for students grade 3-5 who are interested in the rich history and natural areas of Monterey. Handson activities include period games and play, toys, craft, food, songs, dances, and natural observation and interactive guided tours. Camp A explores Monterey’s history and culture. Camp B dives into Monterey’s nature and history. Classes include Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Biology, English, Spanish, Math, Literature, Pre-Algebra, and Spanish levels I-III. Summer session courses meet Mon-Fri; summer school runs June 3-July 5. Classes for 10 credits/$1,495; classes for 5 credits/$785; Fundamentals of Spanish/$785 919 Iverson St., Salinas, 422-6391, palmaschool.org Quien Sabe Youth Overnight Camp This traditional overnight summer camp is organized by the City of Monterey and takes place at the Toro Regional Park youth recreation area. The regular program is for campers ages 7-11 who spend a week camping out under the stars and swimming, hiking, boating, crafting, cooking out, playing games, learning about nature and having campfires. Preteens can take part in the Environmental Team, aimed at developing an understanding of environmental concerns. Campers ages 13-15 combine the fun of camping with two hours of work experience helping to improve Toro Park and receive a job evaluation that may be valuable when seeking that first job.
